Preparation:
With CoCr dentures, the teeth set up in wax are fixed in position using a plaster or silicone index. Full dentures (try-in on the model) are fixed in position in a suitable flask and the flask filled with silicone, agar gel or plaster (injection technique).
The teeth, CoCr framework and model are then cleaned of wax residue by boiling it off and the model soaked. With full dentures it is essential to soak the model until air bubbles no longer escape. This is particularly important to ensure that no air is pressed into the acrylic from the plaster during pressure polymerisation which would result in porosities.
Separating:
Coat the model and plaster indexes 1-2 times with a thin layer of alginate separating agent. Important: If separating twice, the first layer of separating agent should not be completely dry before applying the second layer. In certain circumstances this can result in white discoloration on the fitting surfaces of the acrylic. It is essential to follow the instructions for use!
Note:
Xthetic® prime and Xthetic® prime extra do not bond to highly cross-linked denture teeth. Denture teeth must be conditioned (roughened) and/or provided with mechanical retentions. It is recommended to coat the base surfaces of the teeth using Xthetic® bond to improve the bonding strength.
Processing in the pouring technique – Xthetic® prime
Mixing ratio: 10 : 4-5
The recommended mixing ratio is 10 g powder and 5 g liquid. Place the liquid in a mixing beaker, add the corresponding amount of powder as quickly as possible and mix thoroughly to a homogeneous consistency using a spatula. Important: Thoroughly spatulate the mixture again after a saturation time of approx. 30 seconds to obtain homogeneous distribution of the saturated beads! Ensure there are no bubbles in the mixture! The prepared mixture is pourable for approx. 2-3 min. and can be filled into the indexes or flask sprues.
We recommend using Xthetic® prime extra in a mixing ratio of 10:5 for pouring several saddles in one working step, as this material is more positionally stable at an earlier stage due to the optimised plastic consistency and does not flow out of the indexes.
Freehand dispensing is possible, but the physical properties of the material are only guaranteed if the components are weighed out. When dispensing freehand, add powder to the liquid until it produces a smooth consistency.
Processing in the injection technique – Xthetic® prime extra
Mixing ratio: 10 : 4
The recommended mixing ratio is 10 g powder and 4 g liquid.
Fill the prepared mixture immediately into the injection device. The optimum injection point is reached once strings are no longer formed when an instrument is inserted and removed from the acrylic dough. Important: The flasks should not be cold!
Polymerisation
The polymerisation process must be started a maximum of 8 minutes after adding the powder to the liquid to prevent boiling bubbles. The acrylic should be polymerised under a pressure of 2-3 bar and a water temperature of 45-50°C for approx. 15 min.
After finishing:
The denture should be stored in water until fitting. It is recommended always to store the denture in water for 24 hours to achieve further reduction of the residual monomer content (2.4% according to DIN EN ISO 20795-1), and thus prevent any taste irritation.
Storage and Safety Measures:
Do not use the material after the expiration date. Store at temperatures not exceeding 25°C [77°F]. Protect from sunlight. Close containers immediately after use. Keep away from heat/sparks/open flames/hot surfaces. No smoking. Dispose of contents/container in accordance with local disposal regulations.
Highly flammable liquid and vapour. Causes skin irritation. May cause an allergic skin reaction. May cause respiratory irritation. Avoid breathing dust/fume/gas/mist/vapours/spray. Wear protective gloves/protective clothing/eye protection/ face protection. IF ON SKIN: Wash with plenty of soap and water.
